Bayern Munich assistant posted a funny photo from his trip to Kinshasa

Kinshasa, DR Congo, November 2025. The good people of the country‘s capital are two weeks away from celebrating their team‘s fantastic wins over Cameroon and Nigeria in the World Cup playoffs. It‘s just the beginning of November but while in Europe people are preparing for sub zero temperatures, it‘s 34 degrees in Kinshasa. And one man is wearing leather trousers and a jacket in all this heat! That is Rodyse Munienge. Who is he and why is he suffering with this close in such a heat?

Answer number one – Munienge is Belgian (with obvious African roots) and he is one of the most popular guy among Bayer Munich staff. Closer friend to Bayern‘s boss Vicent Kompany and his assistant since the former Manchester City captain became a coach is among most popular figures between Munich players. Answer number two: He is in Kinshasa because Bavarian‘s most popular festival, Oktoberfest, is also held in the capital of DR Congo.

Oktoberfest is celebrated at the Kinshasa Symphonie des Arts. The 2025 event was scheduled for Saturday, November 1st, and featured Munich musicians, a Bavarian dance show, and a buffet of Bavarian specialties like choucroute and sausages. The event also offered local Congolese beer.

"They had Oktoberfest in Kinshasa! Really, he was invited and that's why he brought his lederhosen. I think the German community celebrated Oktoberfest. It's 34 degrees there, though…" explained Kompany ahead of Frieburg game, after the press saw Munienge‘s photo on Instagram. Bayern boss also added: “But a little bit of Bavaria in Kinshasa isn't bad either…", to which the sporting director Christoph Freund added: "At 34 degrees, you have to drink a lot…".
