The National Super League (NSL) outfit signed 10 players during the transfer window that closed on Monday as Nyaberi moved to address weaknesses identified in the first leg.
“When I joined the team, we only had 19 players. We have recruited 10 players, but so far only six have been registered. I hope the rest will be cleared before the end of the week,” said the CAF B license holder.
Nyaberi said the additions were deliberate and targeted.
“I have beefed up the areas we identified as weak in the first leg and added depth because the second leg will be highly competitive.
I’m also happy that some players who were out injured are back in the squad and ready to fight.”
Among the headline acquisitions is former Shabana centre back Brian Marvin, who reunites with Nyaberi after working together at Murang’a Seal and Mully Children’s Family.
“Marvin is an experienced player. We need his experience and leadership as we head into the second leg. He is an important player,” Nyaberi said.
The coach also expressed satisfaction with the signing of forward Nick Kirui from Division One side Marafiki FC.
“His experience and leadership will equally be invaluable to us,” he noted.
Former APS Bomet midfielder Victor Ochieng has also joined the club, alongside Ramah Mwamburi and John Okoth from MCF, as Nyaberi strengthens his midfield options.
Fortune Sacco will resume their promotion chase against Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) when the second round of the NSL kicks off.
“MOFA are ahead of us in the league, and they have signed good players. We expect a tough duel against them, but our target is maximum points,” said Nyaberi, who previously guided Murang’a Seal to FKF Premier League promotion.
MOFA have reinforced their squad with the signing of joint NSL top scorer Vincent Nyabuto from Gucha Stars and Joshua Amunike from Nairobi City Stars.
Nyabuto has 11 goals this season, level with MOFA’s Syphas Otieno, while Amunike has scored 10.
Fortune sits fifth on the NSL table with 32 points, three behind third-placed MOFA on 35.
Migori Youth lead the standings with 37 points, level with Mombasa United but ahead on goal difference.
