Who'll profit from PSG's winless night?

In a Ligue 1 derby match, Marseille and Monaco each have a chance to come closer to the leading Parisians

Paris Saint-Germain's winless days in Ligue 1 are "as rare as hen's teeth." Hence, when that exceptional phenomenon occurs - like last night, for instance - the rivals are in a "now or never" situation, eager to grab the opportunity and reduce the gap between them and the unmatched rulers of French football.

However, what if the rivals play each other? Well, then, fireworks are expected! The second-placed Monaco travel to Marseille to face the third-placed Olympique, which are three points behind. The eventual visitors' triumph would move them closer, to only four points away from PSG. On the other hand, should Roberto De Zerbi's crew defend their Stade Velodrome, they'll take over the second spot. The third option - a draw - would most benefit the Saints as they'd keep the distance from the competition.

Each team relies on its trump cards: Marseille on the home crowd and Mason Greenwood, and Monaco on their youth, embodied in Eliesse Ben Seghir and Maghnes Akliouche, above all. Despite Paris Saint-Germain's dominance, the rivals still hope they could mix things up and enter the title battle. Today's game will show which side is up to the task.
