The Argentine spoke out several times during the international break, and not exactly in favor of the London club
Enzo Fernandez returned to London after the international break, where an unpleasant surprise was waiting for him. Then again, considering his behavior, it wasn’t that surprising. In any case, those at Stamford Bridge decided to react to the inappropriate statements the Argentine midfielder had made in recent days and suspended him because of them.
As the London club’s manager Liam Rosenior revealed at today’s press conference ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup quarterfinal against Port Vale, the vice-captain will miss the next two matches by decision of the club’s leadership—a decision in which he himself also took part.

Fernandez has made comments in recent weeks which appeared to cast doubt on his future at the club.

The reason lies in the statements the Argentine made during international duty, where he cast doubt on his future at the club. He first spoke just minutes after Chelsea were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals, after which Rosenior said he had “a great conversation with him” and that Enzo had “made it clear how happy he is at the club.”
However, it seems that isn’t entirely the case, as a few days later Enzo stated that he would “see what happens after the World Cup,” and later, during a podcast appearance, revealed that he would like to live in Madrid. All of this clearly bothered Chelsea’s hierarchy, who decided to send a message to the Argentine—as well as to the rest of the squad—that such behavior will no longer be tolerated. And so...
“I spoke with Enzo an hour ago. The football club, and I as part of that process, made the decision that he will not play tomorrow’s match, nor will he be in the squad for Manchester City next week,” Rosenior said at today’s press conference. “It’s disappointing that Enzo spoke in that way. I don’t have a bad word to say about him as a person. But he crossed a line in terms of our culture and what we are trying to build, so we had to sanction him.”
Bold from Liam Rosenior today.

Happy the club see a difference in what Cucurella did, who was just honest, and Enzo Fernandez, who only thought about himself.

Rosenior does not question Fernandez’s commitment in training and matches, but he also does not deny that his statements were inappropriate. However, he cannot say for certain whether Enzo is happy at Stamford Bridge.
“I can’t speak on his behalf. What I do know is that when he was on the pitch, even in the defeat to Everton, there was no lack of commitment in his game. As for what he wants in the future, it’s not for me to comment on that.”
