Mikel Arteta's side thumps PSV Eindhoven thanks to a superb first-half blitzkrieg (4-0)
Like a not knife through butter - that was the flow of Mikel Arteta's Arsenal on Wednesday night, as the Gunners brushed aside PSV Eindhoven 4-0 in their maiden Champions League match of the season. The North Londoners made a perfect start to their first UCL campaign in six years, mostly thanks to a superb first-half blitzkrieg.
In the span of just 30 minutes (between the 8th and 38th), the hosts netted thrice to kill the game. Deprived of any hope and ambition, the Dutch visitors conceded another one in the later stage of the fixture for a much-deserved loss.

It was obvious from the start at the Emirates that the home side were eager to set records straight very early. The man responsible for such an excellent opening was Bukayo Saka, who was just on time as PSV's keeper denied Rice's effort but stood no chances against the England winger from a very close range.
Trossard has done it again. More goals than Mudryk in his entire career 💀💀💀 pic.twitter.com/VJ22fj0hvR

From that moment on, the goals started pouring like London rain. Trossard jumped on that wagon, hitting it marvellously on the counter, following Saka's perfect assist.
Finally, it was Gabriel Jesus with his cutting-edge finishing to make it 3-0 and make a dead rubber of the second half.

Controlling the ball possession and the game's rhythm, Arteta's boys were enjoying themselves on the pitch, hesitating though to press the turbo button. All that was left for the packed stadium was Martin Odegaard's lovely solo act, as the Norwegian netted one of his trademark goals from the edge of the box, burying low into the bottom corner for a splendid 4-0 victory.
