Como is the most serious club in Serie A at the moment, if we look only at the transfer business. In just 11 days, they spent potential 111 million euros (including bonuses) on reinforcements and their shopping spree isn’t over yet. Currently, the club from the famous Italian lake is expecting the talented center-back Jacobo Ramon from Real Madrid and Alvaro Morata. Como had been waiting for the conclusion of negotiations between Napoli and Galatasaray over Victor Osimhen, and they’ve now received the green light to move for Alvaro Morata. Once Osimhen signs for Galatasaray, the Spaniard will be cleared to terminate his loan in Istanbul, formally return to Milan (with whom he is under contract), and then head out on loan to Como.

Coach Cesc Fabregas made a great debut season in Serie A and his team finished as 10th at the table in their first season after promotion. The former Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea player gave some good indication that he will be as successful as a coach as he was a player and he was being monitored by some bigger clubs like Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen. But he turned them all down as he believes in the club’s long term project (and he is also a shareholder), and is planning for a new season.
There will be more arrivals in Como and considering that Lionel Messi has still not signed a contact extension in Inter Miami, his wife’s appearance at the Como’s pre-season 3-2 friendly victory over Lille, raised a few eyebrows. Fabregas was quick to give an explanation.
“Never say never, he was over at my house for his vacation. We are friends, so are our wives and children. As Ludi said after that match, we cannot say Messi has never played at Como, seeing as his kids are here. But he is in America” revealed former Gunner.
Fabregas also revealed why he refused offers from big clubs this June.
“I am very happy here and have been from the first day, I always told the club that and I am a very sincere person. I listened to people, but not with the intention of leaving. I never had doubts, I signed a four-year contract and you don’t do that unless you believe in a solid project. Antonio Conte didn’t know what he would do either, after the Scudetto win, he said that he would talk to the club. How many times does a coach get replaced after taking a team from Serie B to Serie A? I might not be prepared for the next step up from 10th place, we cannot know that. Are we ready for Europe? Maybe yes, maybe no. We’ll see as we go on, day by day. Como is not a club that buys players to sell them on, we want to grow together” said Fabregas.
