Former Manchester United player decided to ask the famous AI chatbot what to ask in his new contract

When you say the name Demetri Mitchell, even the hard core Manchester United fans will raise their eyebrows. He attended the same football academy as Marcus Rashford before switching to Old Trafford where he spent three years making only one senior appearance (against Crystal Palace in 2017). After a couple of loans, he left the club and started his journey around UK, stopping at Blackpool, Hibernian and Exeter City. Nothing unusual to write about, since there are literally hundreds and hundreds failed academy players who decided to play in lower leagues, but Mitchell decided to seek advice with his next club, but not from his family, friends or manager, but from ChatGPT.

ChatGPT is a conversational artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot developed by OpenAI that uses large language models (LLMs) to generate text, images, and audio in response to user prompts. It has been hugely popular mainly among the new generation called Alpha (born 2010-2024), but also among older people as they use it for various situations, just like Mitchell did.

"Leyton Orient sent me an offer, and then I started using ChatGPT to ask them how to negotiate the contract and what to include. I asked, 'This is what I had last season. I'm moving to London, what's the cost of living? My wife is moving in with me and my little one. I also thought I was worth a little more, but you shouldn't think: 'oh yeah, I think I should earn this much.' And since I didn't use an agent, I receive this amount as a hiring fee. ChatGPT has been my best agent so far. Agent commissions are 5%. ChatGPT: 15 pounds per month for premium” the player told the From My Left podcast last week. With his new club, Mitchell, a former England youth international, has played twelve matches in all competitions since the start of the season.
