Arguably the best three-point shooter in NBA history, Steph Curry, revealed a powerful impact Guardiola's Barcelona had on the Warriors' trophy-laden team
Looking back at the history of football, several teams have brought profound changes to the approach, tactics, and overall understanding of this sport. After their eras, nothing was the same.
Some of these crews include the Hungary national team (the so-called Golden Team) in the 1950s, Johan Cruyff's Netherlands in the 1970s, and Barcelona in the 1980s, among many others. However, the most recent team to have a revolutionary impact on football was Pep Guardiola's Barca and their (in)famous tiki-taka.
With the current Man City boss on the bench, the Catalans won 14 trophies, including three La Ligas and two Champions Leagues, but their most significant achievement was revolutionizing the game of football.
Nevertheless, did you know that Pep's tiki-taka transformed the NBA as well? Probably not.
Talking to Steve Nash and LeBron James on the Mind the Game podcast, arguably the greatest three-point shooter in NBA history, Steph Curry, revealed that Guardiola's tactics had a massive impact on the trophy-laden Golden State Warriors and their head coach, Steve Kerr.

"He was like, 'I just wanna make a couple of tweaks to the way that we're creating shots."
"Once we got in training camp, he showed a clip of Barcelona tiki-taka, and he was talking about that as a philosophy of how we're gonna create shots, how we're gonna keep things simple, make the defense have to make a million decisions in a possession, so that you can find the right shot."
"It took a minute to be comfortable with not calling a play and just letting the ball kind of dictate where you're supposed to be," the point guard said via Marca.
And it completely worked for the Warriors, as Kerr managed to create one of the best teams the NBA league has ever seen, which won four titles in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022. Moreover, in the 2015/2016 campaign, Golden State set the best-ever regular-season record, 73-9, breaking Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls' 1995/1996 record of 72-10.
So, the next time you start questioning Guardiola's genius, remember this story, because his brilliance doesn't have boundaries. Pep is indeed one of the latest trailblazers, not just in football, but in sports in general, and we are all fortunate to live in his era.
