The Spanish coach has entered the club of legends by achieving 250 wins with a single team – and he did it faster than any manager in history, ahead of Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger
Pep Guardiola reached a remarkable milestone on Sunday, notching his 250th Premier League victory as Manchester City boss and setting a record as the fastest manager to hit the mark—achieved in just 349 games. Such a feat clearly calls for a special celebration.
That’s exactly what Guardiola has in mind after City’s 1-0 win over Brentford, which secured him a place in an elite circle of managers to have achieved 250 Premier League wins with a single club.

Only Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) and Arsene Wenger (Arsenal) had done it before, and Guardiola is already plotting a dream dinner to mark the occasion. "It's an honour to be alongside Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, I will invite them to a good dinner," said the Spaniard, now in his tenth season at City.
"It's a pleasure to be part of that in Premier League history, really pleased. Now let's go for 250 more."
Guardiola reached the milestone in record time, taking 55 fewer matches than Ferguson (404) and 75 fewer than Wenger (424). While David Moyes has also accumulated 250 Premier League wins, his tally comes across multiple clubs, rather than a single team.

In the history of English top-flight football, only 16 other managers—including legends like Bill Shankly (Liverpool), Matt Busby (Manchester United), and Brian Clough (Nottingham Forest)—have reached 250 wins. Guardiola’s impact on English football has made him an unavoidable part of any “greatest managers” discussion.
Since taking the reins at City in 2016, the 54-year-old has guided them to six Premier League titles, one Champions League, two FA Cups, and four League Cups. The club also became only the second side in history to complete a historic Treble in 2023, winning the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup in the same season.
Other landmark achievements under Guardiola include the 2017-18 season, when City became the first team to reach 100 points in a single Premier League campaign, winning 32 of 38 matches. City is also the only team to have secured four consecutive Premier League titles.
During this dominant period, City have averaged 28 league wins per season. Only Ferguson, with 13 titles, has surpassed Guardiola’s six.
"He's one of the greatest ever to do it," said former City defender Micah Richards on Sky Sports. "When we talk about Guardiola it's not just the wins, it's how they've won, how he's changed football, the tiki-taka."

City have reached 90+ points in four of Guardiola’s nine full Premier League seasons—a remarkable figure considering it had been achieved just five times before his arrival. His 71.6% win rate surpasses any other manager in Premier League history, outpacing Ferguson (65.2%) and Antonio Conte (62.9%).
Across 349 league matches, Guardiola’s teams have scored 842 goals while conceding 299. Though he has a contract with City until 2027, his long-term future remains a topic of speculation. In his tenth season in England, Guardiola is focused on reclaiming the Premier League crown that eluded City last year.
