Manchester United were in front two times, but it just wasn't enough to defeat Ange Postecoglou's injury-torn army

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur share spoils in a thrilling 2-2 draw in front of packed Old Trafford on Sunday night.

It was one of the most intense and exciting Premier League games so far this season, as the hosts were in front two times, but it eventually ended in a deserved stalemate.

And what a start it was for the Red Devils!

After suffering a dreadful 14-games-long goal-scoring drought, Rasmus Hojlund netted his second in two consecutive games to push his side 1-0 up just three minutes into the match. Rashford took too many touches of the ball inside the box, but the Danish striker was there to take command, smashing an unstoppable finish into the back of the net.

However, Spurs bounced back soon, as Pedro Porro's brilliant corner-kick found Richarlison in the middle of the area. The Brazilian rose to flick the ball smoothly into the far corner.

The pulsating clash was just getting started at that moment, as Manchester United were back in front before the break. Hojlund and Rashford teamed up again, as their one-two provided the latter with a perfect chance for a clinical strike and lovely finish, 2-1.

Tottenham were close to levelling the score even before the interval, but Cristian Romero's header ended on a crossbar.

Their luck changed, however, 50 seconds after the start of the second half. Timo Werner picked out Rodrigo Bentancur, who strode unchallenged into the box before firing into the roof of the net, 2-2.

After those four goals in the opening 46 minutes, the rest of the match was less intense. Both Erik ten Hag and Ange Postecoglou were eager to win it, but the players seemed a bit tired due to such a demanding battle, and some poor finishing choices proved that was just the case.

Still, the home side was so close to winning it late, but Scott McTominay's sitter would haunt them for a long time. The Scottish midfielder was left totally unmarked on the edge of the six-yard box, but his header went wide.
