"We need something special… so we'll be that special", Slot fires up Anfield for PSG showdown

Liverpool dare to believe in another miracle as Paris giants arrive with a two-goal cushion (Tuesday, 10 pm)

Arne Slot isn't hiding from the size of the task - he's embracing it.

Liverpool trail Paris Saint-Germain by two goals heading into Tuesday's quarter-final second leg at Anfield (10 pm). History isn't exactly on their side either, as they've overturned such deficits just twice before in Europe.

But belief? That's non-negotiable.

"Yes, we can do something special," Slot insisted. "But we'll have to be very, very, very special."

Because this isn't just any opponent. This is PSG, and this is Anfield.

Slot pointed to the Reds' firepower at home - 36 games out of their last 50 with at least two goals - as proof that the impossible might not be so impossible after all. But he knows numbers alone won't win this tie.

Noise might.

"The fans will be just as important as us," he said, calling on Anfield to reach another level, even higher than the nights that have already become legend.

Last week in Paris, Liverpool barely showed up. With not a single shot on target, Slot's men were happy to escape with 2-0. They were outplayed, and the Dutch tactician didn't deny it. He also didn't dwell on it.

"We've shown many times we can be much better," he said. "One moment can change the game."

Dominik Szoboszlai echoed that defiance:

"We're going all in. From minute one to 90… or 120 if needed. At Anfield, anything can happen."

PSG, meanwhile, arrive rested, as their weekend fixture was postponed to keep them fresh. Liverpool didn't have that luxury.

Still, they have something else, like belief, urgency, and potentially a sort of a wildcard.

Seventeen-year-old Rio Ngumoha, fresh off his first Anfield goal, could yet play a part. Slot trusts his mentality and fearlessness, which is exactly what the Scousers need tonight. And the faint, flickering hope that under the Anfield lights, another miracle is waiting to be written.
