Despite failing to collect maximum points in the opening two rounds of National Super League season, defender Oscar Wanambisi is adamant the team will soon find the shooting boots.

Mulembe, formerly Vihiga United, started yet another season in the second tier after enduring a tough 2022-23 campaign and even after the lifting of the transfer embargo by football governing body FIFA, the club are yet to win a single league match.

The Samuel Twago coached club lost to Kajiado FC 2-1, before succumbing to 2008 Kenya Premier League champions Mathare United with the same scoreline in their efforts to redeem themselves from the opening match upset.

Wanambisi, who is part of the senior players and integral core in Twago’s squad, told Mozzart Sport that the team was working tirelessly around the clock to arrest the poor start and work towards achieving the season's targets.

"We will definitely bounce back from the poor start. We are doing everything possible to get our first win that will set the pace for more wins in the coming days," he said.

The former Compel FC trialist further revealed that a lapse in performance is due to the huge number of incomings at the club that are yet to gel and fit into their system.

Mulembe signed more than fifteen players after Football Kenya Federation extended their transfer window by two weeks as the Kakamega based club tried to strengthen the team.

"We did not have pre-season until the last minute. None of us knew what was next for the team and that is now causing us more troubles to adapt to each other. The club has done some impressive signings and once the chemistry clicks, teams will be worried," he added.

Wanambisi, who can also slot into the midfield role perfectly, noted that with adequate support from the top management the players are in a position to guide United back to the FKF Premier League since they are all experts in the second tier and with a noble experience in top flight football.

"We have a strong team that has patrolled the FKFPL and NSL for sometime with proper support and conducive working environment this team can win the championship and get promoted," he concluded.

Next for Mulembe United is a home test against Robert Arasa Orangi's Mully Children Family FC at Mumias Complex on Sunday.
