Viktor’s pathetic excuse and calls for Arteta’s sack

Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 12.04.26. | 12:25

Fans were furious after a 2-1 home loss to Bournemouth

Yesterday was not a good day for Arsenal, their players and fans. In a fierce battle for the Premier League title, the Gunners lost at home to Bournemouth 2-1 and are not in a state of shock and anger, just days before the showdown with Manchester City, who are now nine points below, but with two games in hand. And this would not be the first time that the Citizens are trailing Arsenal and then come up on top in May. So, there is a state of emergency at the Emirates. Saturday’s defeat brought some heavy scenes with angry supporters while some of the players didn’t help the situation with their clumsy statements.

The penalty goalscorer Victor Gyokeres ended up being at the headlines due to his statement that a ‘dry pitch’ was one of the reasons for the defeat. “We had some okay chances in the end. The pitch was maybe a bit dry there to be honest, so that didn't help. We all need to do better and take our chances” he said to the BBC after the game.

Supporters, on the other side, booed at the final whistle at the Emirates after the defeat and some flocked straight to the fan channel's cameras to air their furious views. Yardman, a regularly outspoken voice on AFTV, was the first one to attack Areta with strong words:

We have a rubbish manager. We've got a s*** manager. I keep on telling people, everybody telling me that I'm negative. This guy keep on telling us bare bull-c**p. We can win the league if we sack Mikel Arteta and go and get a different manager. Don't ask who. If we get rid of him now, we are six points ahead. Xabi Alonso is out there. Alonso is a manager where the team is going to look and say, from Real Madrid, from Bayer Leverkusen, this guy has won it as a manager and a player. Somebody who has the know-how” he said.

Another fan even suggested that Arteta’s time is already up.

We are now in the last few weeks of Arteta. I have spoken to one of the most positive fans around and he said "he's gone". I don't really know where to go from that. The team set-up is wrong, I don't see how you can keep rewarding players for performances and still play. You are at home against Bournemouth going for a title, God has come down to you and said "You've had it hard for 20 years, i'll give you a gift of Newcastle at home, Bournemouth at home. By the time we play Newcastle, guess how many points were will probably be clear... none. If City win tomorrow it has gone mate” said AFTV star Lee Judges.
