This is not the first time that the two are working together.
Matano signed Mieno at Tusker in 2019 during the second stint for the two, signed him at Sofapaka last season before he left for Tanzania, and the two once again reunited at KCB FC.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Mieno opened up on the demands of the 61-year-old and their long working relationship.
“He is a good coach who is known for his winning mentality and work ethic. Of course, he is tough on the training pitch and in games, but that is because he wants the best out of his players and his team.
As long as you train well and play according to instructions, he will be pleased with you, and that is the same even now,” said Mieno.
The two also have three league titles each and will be keen to guide KCB into their maiden league title, and the 36-year-old disclosed how they intend to achieve that goal.
“I would not say there is anything we are doing differently. We are just training hard and taking each game at a time with the intention of winning,” he added.
Further, one of the most peculiar things about the former Gor Mahia striker has been his love for black black football boots, something he smiled while explaining.
“I just love them. Black is everything. They are cool and not so shouting, and also blend well with my skin tone. I love to keep it simple,” he remarked.
KCB are currently third on the league table with six points, and will face Kenyan giants Gor Mahia in their next league match, slated for Saturday, 4 September at Dandora Stadium.
