The experienced players included Harambee Stars goalkeeper Timothy ‘Cheetah’ Odhiambo, Kelvin Thairu, Masita Masuta and Bonventure Muchika.

Speaking after Ulinzi’s 0-0 draw with Kariobangi Sharks in a league match played on Wednesday 24 September, Nyaudo explained the decision to bring back Odhiambo.

“Odhiambo was away on military assignment out of Nairobi and Nakuru, and so I could not get him when I wanted, but I can tell you that from the day that he will get a chance to play. Odhiambo is a national team player and will definitely go back to the national team,” said Nyaudo.

The experienced tactician went on to disclose that the former Green Commandos custodian has already captured the eyes of the Harambee Stars technical bench.

“We had a friendly against Gor Mahia about three weeks ago, and the national team coach and tacticians started asking me about his fitness. He is a good goalkeeper and bringing him back will add value to the team,” he added.

Nyaudo also shared the decision to bring back former Nzoia striker Masuta into the fold.

“For Masuta, I was looking for a young striker, but I could not find one in the market and so I opted to bring him back because of his experience. Anytime I field him, you will see some good punch upfront,” he stated.

The 2010 league champions have had an impressive start to the season, picking four points from their first two matches and are currently on top of the 18-team league table.

This is an improvement from last season when they lost all their first two matches and largely flattered the relegation zone for most parts of the season.

Next up for Ulinzi a clash with Kenya Police FC in the disciplined forces derby scheduled for Tuesday 30 September at the Police Sacco Stadium.
