The resumption of sporting activities in the country lays with the Sports and Health Ministries.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed the Ministry of Sports and Health to draft guidelines that will guide the resumption of sporting activities in the country.
The president was speaking at State House, Nairobi on Saturday 1 May as the country was marking World Labour Day and issued a raft of new Covid-19 containment measures.
Uhuru reiterated that the resumption of sporting activities now lays with the Sports and Health Ministries who are to draft new guidelines.
“That the resumption of sporting activities shall be guided by the regulations to be issued by the Ministry of Health jointly with the Ministry of Sports,” said Uhuru.

This comes as good news with a number of teams in the country bearing the brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic as players have had to endure a number of months without payment in certain teams.
The President imposed an indefinite ban on all sporting activities in the country back on Friday 26 March due to the spike in Covid-19 cases in the country.
A number of athletes participating in the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympic games have had to train individually with the Kenya Sevens and Lionesses having to train in a bubble at Kasarani Stadium.
The Covid-19 containment measures also denied Harambee Starlets a friendly against Zambia back in April as they step up their preparation for the Africa Women Cup of Nations.
