UCL: Bayern’s blitzkrieg, marked by the record of underage kiddo

Reading Time: 4min | Tue. 09.12.25. | 22:42

German team managed to turn the game around in 12 minutes and win 3–1 : the star of the night was Karl Lennart, the youngest player in Champions League history with 3 goals

Bayern Munich faced Sporting Lisbon the hard way. Of course, it wasn’t expected that the Portuguese would give Bayern everything, and they even took the lead with an own goal from Kimmich. But it didn’t last long. Just 12 minutes later, Bayern was already ahead 3–1, securing another Champions League victory and continuing their race with Arsenal at the top of the table.

The match opened brightly for the German champions. In the 3rd minute, Harry Kane tried his luck from over 25 meters, sending the first shot of the game just over the bar. Ambitious, but not a bad attempt.

Only two minutes later, in the 5th minute, Bayern thought they had taken the lead. Karl Lennart smashed the ball beautifully into the net after chaos in Sporting’s box. However, the assistant referee raised the flag for offside, and a VAR check confirmed that Serge Gnabry was offside in the buildup. The goal was ruled out.

Vincent Kompany’s team continued to push, circulating the ball deep in Sporting’s half but lacking a precise finish. The next promising moment came in the 17th minute, when young Karl again found himself in a good position, only to fire over the goal.

In the 20th minute, Gnabry broke down the right flank and tried a low shot from the edge of the box, but it drifted wide of Manuel Neuer’s goal. Four minutes later, in the 24th minute, Gnabry produced a much better effort, cutting inside in classic Arjen Robben style and unleashing a dangerous shot. Sporting goalkeeper Silva reacted brilliantly to keep it out.

Bayern nearly conceded at the opposite end in the 28th minute, when Catamo whipped a ball into the box and Jonathan Tah accidentally deflected it toward his own goal. Neuer saved the day with sharp reflexes.

Kane came close again in the 31st minute after a poor defensive reaction from Sporting, but Silva managed to hold onto the Englishman’s shot.

The biggest opportunity of the half arrived in the 37th minute. Kane dribbled through Sporting’s defense from the edge of the area, beat the goalkeeper, but his shot crashed off the post—an agonizing miss for Bayern.

As halftime approached, Stanisic headed narrowly wide in the 42nd minute, and just before the break in the 44th minute, Karl broke through Sporting’s back line and advanced almost to the six-yard box. Once again, Silva came to the rescue with a superb save to keep Bayern out.

The half started with Sporting threatening early. In the 47th minute, Alisson Santos received the ball at the edge of the box and fired, but his shot narrowly missed the right post.

Just seven minutes later, Sporting took the lead. The visitors capitalized on a counterattack. Simoes orchestrated the move and was the key figure in the play, while Joshua Kimmich accidentally deflected the ball into his own net, beating his goalkeeper.

Kimmich tried to make amends shortly after. In the 60th minute, he unleashed a 25-meter shot, but Silva was in the right place to save it. Seconds later, another attempt came from Karl, but Silva once again denied Bayern with a strong save.

Bayern broke through in the 65th minute. From a corner, Olise delivered a perfect cross to the far post, leaving Serge Gnabry unmarked. The German international made no mistake, slotting the ball into Sporting’s net.

Moments later, Bayern took the lead. Karl made history as the youngest player in Champions League history to score in three consecutive matches. He received an excellent cross from Laimer, controlled it perfectly, and finished past Silva to make it 2–1.

The German side extended their advantage in the 77th minute. Kimmich’s corner found Gnabry’s head, who redirected it to Jonathan Tah, and Tah easily placed the ball into the net, putting Bayern 3–1 up.

Sporting threatened again in the 80th minute, but Gnabry came close to his second goal. His shot inside the box narrowly missed Silva’s goal.
