Tusker defender nears full recovery

Injured Tusker centre back Vincent Ngesa cannot wait for the current campaign to roll to its business end.

Ngesa, has been out of action from March last year thanks to a nasty knee injury suffered while in duty against Bidco United and the earliest he can kick the ball at the competitive level is next season.

The defender, tore his knee meniscus in the game against the Thika based club and was subsequently, wheeled to the surgeon's room, an exercise, that meant that, he would be out for some time.

Ngesa, revealed that, he had five weeks remaining in his rehabilitation schedule and will therefore have to wait for the next term so as to quench his thirst for game time.

"I cannot play this season as I am yet to get a clean bill of health. I am almost there in terms of rehabilitation and recovery. I really miss playing football at the competitive level," he said.

Ngesa, who joined Tusker in July 2019 from Nzoia Sugar was part of the team that, fended off stiff competition from KCB to win the league title in the 2020-2021 season.

Reacting on the quality of centre backs the technical bench has brought on board from the time he suffered the injury and the departure of Eugene Asike and Christopher Oruchum, he said, they were up to the task.

He also expressed satisfaction with how the team has been faring in his absence, and went on to note that, it will take him hard work to regain his place in the starting lineup.

"We won the league last season but unfortunately, it was not recognized. We have been performing well too. The technical bench plugged in the gaps in the defence with quality defenders who have been doing incredibly well," he added.
