He came as a temporary solution, but is becoming a permanent one. That’s how Igor Tudor’s journey has looked since arriving at Juventus. The expectation was that the former Hajduk Split coach would calmly see out a season that was threatening to turn into a disaster after the failed experiment with Thiago Motta. It may not have been flashy or enjoyable to watch, but the Split native got the job done and led the team to fourth place, securing direct qualification to the Champions League — the absolute minimum that was expected of Tudor.

That’s why he’ll be rewarded accordingly. Juventus general manager Damien Comolli announced that he was satisfied with Tudor’s work, and now he's shown it in action, as the Croatian coach has committed to the Old Lady until 2027. This outcome gives Tudor stability and the opportunity to build the team to his liking and, if possible — go after the Scudetto. A new challenge is already around the corner: the FIFA Club World Cup is starting, and Juve is in Group G with Manchester City, Wydad Casablanca, and Al Ain.
The result in that competition could influence Juve’s start in Serie A. Perhaps that’s why it’s better for the Turin club to try to achieve something in this new tournament — to build enough confidence for what awaits in the domestic league. Under Motta, the team's energy kept deteriorating as the season went on, culminating in a humiliating home defeat to Atalanta. That’s a scenario neither Tudor nor anyone else at the club wants to see again. If it happens, it means that fundamentally, nothing has changed. That’s why this is the biggest challenge of Igor Tudor’s career. All eyes will be on him like never before in any of his previous coaching jobs. In Turin, people still have headaches from last season’s chaos — and they don’t want a regular headache to turn into a migraine. Because then, things will get truly serious.
