Tottenham's Hojbjerg: An ambitious club needs an ambitious manager

Danish holding midfielder says that reaching at least Europa League would be incredible for the Spurs

Spurs have two more matches to end their Premier League campaign. And if all pieces fall into place - they will play European football next season.

It is a season to forget at White Hart Lane and there will for sure be some massive changes in North London. Interim manager, young Ryan Mason, will most probably be replaced for the new campaign and one of the standard first team members under previous manager Jose Mourinho believes the tactician to come needs to have that hunger for success and progression.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is the tireless soldier of the midfield and he has already shown he will give his all for the team to win. Danish footballer who came from Southampton in 2020 stated that whoever takes over Tottenham needs to match the aspirations of the club.

Mason is in temporary charge until the end of the season and looks like he could guide them to European qualification after a 2-0 win over Wolves on Sunday put their top-six hopes in their own hands.

Next permanent manager of the Spurs will have his work cut out for him. Even so, there are some quite attractive factors such as Harry Kane still being part of the squad (but for how long?) and the 150 billion KSH new Tottenham stadium.

Hojbjerg, who scored and assisted Kane against Wolverhampton Wanderers, gave a short answer when asked about a new manager of the team.

'It is a difficult question, it is not one I can answer, or one I want to answer. 'But Tottenham is an ambitious club and we need an ambitious coach.'

Even though the season was abysmal in the eyes of many, Spurs had a couple of pride-worthy moments, such as the Carabao Cup final and the top spot in the Premier League table in December.

A contender for the club's player of the season, Hojbjerg said his team haven't shown their best and that Spurs will do everything they can to clinch Europa League qualification spot.

'We really want to be there, we really want to be a part of it,' he said.

'We don't only want to be a part of it, we want to win it as well. So it will be fantastic to get into the Europa League and try and win it.

'It's always good to finish above the rivals but most important is to reach the target.

'We haven't reached the ultimate target that we wanted to reach. We had a cup final so we had the chance to win some silverware, we didn't do that, so the disappointment is of course there.

'But now we have to be in the present and the present is to achieve and try and be part of the top six, top five and miraculously top four. Again we will try and do our things and see what happens.'
