Abana Abeingo are scheduled to host the much-rested Bidco United this weekend at the Bukhungu Stadium, aiming to bag their seventh win of the season
Just like all the coaches whose teams are flying high in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League this season, Kakamega Homeboyz tactician Patrick Odhiambo has rubbished talks suggesting that they are title favorites.
Coaches whose teams are thriving this season have made it clear that it is 'too early' to categorize certain teams as title favorites, with Odhiambo being the latest to add his voice.
Asked whether they are going for the title after registering three wins in as many matches following the hard-fought 1-0 over Ulinzi Stars last weekend, Odhiambo stated that twists and turns are yet to be witnessed in the competition.
The win over Ulinzi saw Homeboyz move to the fourth spot with 21 points, four shy of log leaders Posta Rangers, whose coach John Kamau has also been insisting that the title race is wide open.
"It is too early to label teams favorites for the title. We are not even done with the first leg," responded Odhiambo.
Instead, the former Sony Sugar coach said the team was focused on winning every game without bothering much about how the table changes each weekend.
"Our aim has always been to win the next game," he briefly told reporters after the game against Ulinzi that was won deep into stoppage time by Tanzanian forward Oscar Paul.
Posta leads defending champion Gor Mahia by a point, with KCB trailing by three points.
Debutants Murang'a Seal, Bandari, and FC Talanta are also in the picture, as they are a few points off the back of Rangers.
Homeboyz are scheduled to host the much-rested Bidco United this weekend at the Bukhungu Stadium, aiming to bag their seventh win of the season.
