Debutants APS Bomet have received a timely boost in their battle for top-flight survival following the return of talismanic forward Hansel Ochieng from injury.

The former AFC Leopards attacker had been sidelined for the past six weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury during APS Bomet’s narrow 1–0 defeat to Tusker FC on 21 December 2025.

His absence was felt as the Bomet-based outfit struggled for form and consistency during a crucial phase of the season.

In an update released on the club’s official social media platforms, APS Bomet confirmed that Ochieng has resumed full training ahead of their upcoming league assignment, offering renewed optimism to a side deeply entrenched in the relegation battle.

Prior to his injury, Ochieng had been in scintillating form, emerging as one of the club’s standout performers in their maiden FKF Premier League campaign as he topped the league's top scores chart.

The former Sofapaka forward had netted four league goals, highlighted by a memorable brace in APS Bomet’s emphatic victory over record league champions Gor Mahia.

His absence coincided with a difficult run of fixtures for head coach Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo’s charges. APS Bomet went four matches without a win, drawing 1–1 with Mara Sugar before being involved in a dramatic six-goal thriller against Shabana FC.

They also suffered narrow 2–1 defeats to AFC Leopards and high-flying Murang’a Seal, results that significantly dented their survival push.

Those outcomes have proved costly, dragging the newcomers deeper into the relegation dogfight.

Bomet currently sits 17th on the standings with 15 points, just one above bottom-placed Sofapaka FC.

Ochieng’s return comes at a critical juncture, as APS Bomet seek to rediscover momentum and mount a sustained fight to preserve their top-flight status in their inaugural season.

The squad grows stronger. Great to have Hansel Ochieng back with the team today after the injury against Tusker FC,” the club stated.
