What is certain is that the former Nottingham Forest manager would bring some order to Tottenham’s already chaotic atmosphere

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly exploring a bold option in Sean Dyche as they scramble to avoid a disastrous relegation to the Championship. The north London side, embroiled in a tense battle for Premier League survival, may turn to the former Nottingham Forest manager if their primary managerial targets continue to stall, increasing the pressure on interim boss Igor Tudor.

The club’s search for a permanent head coach has encountered significant obstacles, prompting them to consider a more radical short-term solution. Roberto De Zerbi, who departed Marseille last month, remains the preferred choice for Spurs’ leadership.

However, the Italian is reportedly hesitant to take over amid the ongoing relegation struggle. Currently, Spurs sit 17th, just a single point above the drop zone. De Zerbi might be open to stepping in during the summer if the club secures its top-flight status, leaving a pressing vacancy that demands immediate attention.

Interim coach Tudor’s position has grown increasingly precarious. Under his management, Spurs have collected only one point from six Premier League matches.

According to The Telegraph, Dyche is being considered to steer Tottenham to safety during a tough run of fixtures. Interestingly, Dyche was dismissed by Nottingham Forest in February, just one day before Tudor replaced Thomas Frank.

Known for his ability to handle high-pressure relegation battles, Dyche famously guided Everton to survival in consecutive seasons. His reputation as a “survival specialist” makes him an appealing, if unorthodox, choice for a club more commonly associated with a different style of football.

Tottenham’s squad has also been hit hard by injuries, with the board leaning toward a pragmatic approach to navigate the final seven matches of the campaign. Any potential deal with Dyche could face complications over contract length.

Spurs are seeking a short-term solution to bridge the gap until summer, but it’s uncertain whether Dyche would accept a contract covering only the remainder of the 2025-26 season. The urgency is undeniable, as the club faces a very real threat of slipping into the bottom three.

Even before their next fixture against Sunderland on April 12, results elsewhere—such as West Ham’s clash with Wolves—could see Tottenham fall into the relegation zone. With just a handful of games left, the margin for error has all but disappeared for the north Londoners.

The remaining schedule offers little respite, featuring crucial encounters against Brighton, Aston Villa, and a potential relegation showdown with Leeds United.
