Three clubs in just over six months? Andy Carroll is having a ball!

The former England striker joins West Bromwich Albion until the end of the season

He may not be playing on the biggest stage anymore nor is he a candidate to represent his country, but the 33-year-old Andy Carroll can still score goals – and he's joined his second club of the season in West Bromwich Albion.

Last June, Carroll was still a Newcastle United player, although he knew his time with his boyhood club in the Premier League was going to end. He was released after a season of fitness problems and inconsistent form. But the former Liverpool and West Ham striker was determined to prove that he still knows where the net is.

He joined EFL Championship team Reading in November on a short-term contract and a laughably low wage. He wasn't there to earn money, though – but to play football. And football he played. He delivered two goals in eight appearances for the Royals, although he was unlucky to see a couple of world-class strikes disallowed.

With his Reading contract out, the former big talent of English football was once again a free agent. But this time he didn't have to wait for a few months to find another club. Promotion hopefuls West Bromwich decided to take a chance on Carroll and add his experience to the squad.

"I don't see why we can't get automatic promotion, not just in the play-offs. That's why I'm here, to push us on to higher in the league and get us up there. I don't think I'd be playing football if I didn't think that I could still contribute. My boots would have been hung up and I'd be on a beach somewhere. But that's not me. I want to be here, I want to play football and I want to score goals. That's what I've wanted to do all of my career - and that's why I'm here."

This guy either hate beaches or he really, really loves scoring goals.
