The rift widens: Sancho has been banished from Manchester United's first team

Ten Hag told the troublesome winger to train alone until he earns the right to be a part of the team again

Jadon Sancho will train away from the Manchester United first-team squad until his relationship with manager Erik Ten Hag is resolved.

Sancho found himself in hot water with Ten Hag after publicly disputing the manager's explanation for his absence from the squad against Arsenal. The 23-year-old winger went on to imply that he was being unfairly singled out by the Dutch manager.

After discussions between Sancho and Ten Hag earlier this week, the player removed the contentious post, seen as a positive step towards reconciliation. Football director John Murtough, supported by chief executive Richard Arnold, has been actively working to facilitate a resolution between the two parties. Despite these efforts, the rift between Ten Hag and Sancho has not yet been fully mended, prompting Manchester United to announce that the player will follow a personalized training regime.

"Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training programme away from the first-team group, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue."

Sancho, who cost United $91 million when he joined from Borussia Dortmund two years ago, has struggled to live up to that price tag at Old Trafford. He has scored 12 goals in 82 appearances but was not always a regular starter during Ten Hag's first season in charge.

Sancho's absence compounds a miserable start to the season for United on and off the field. Ten Hag's men have lost two of their opening four Premier League games. The Red Devils are also without Brazilian winger Antony after he was given a leave of absence to fight allegations of domestic abuse made by his former girlfriend.
