The London side's custodian was sent off after only five minutes, doomed his team, and paved the way for the Red Devils' huge triumph in a red card festival - 2-1

Finally! For some time now, the situation around Old Trafford has been gloomy. Ruben Amorim's position has been at risk, the squad's quality has been widely diminished, and the lavish reinforcements have been under a huge question mark. However, today, none of these things matter, as Man United brushed Chelsea aside 2-1, at last put in a display worthy of the club's reputation, and won a Premier League derby clash!

Truth be told, the Red Devils wouldn't have done it without massive help, courtesy of the Blues keeper, Robert Sanchez. The Spaniard was sent off after only five minutes on the pitch and doomed his team.

Following that moment, Chelsea hardly crossed the halfway line, while United's pressure brought them two goals: the first in the 14th minute over Bruno Fernandes and the second 23 minutes later over Casemiro.

Still, the Brazilian apparently didn't like the hero role, so shortly after scoring, he could have become a tragic figure, receiving a second yellow in first-half added time!

After the break, encouraged by the Brazilian's dismissal, Chelsea were much more dominant, but the Blues' deficit was too large to overcome. They did reduce the gap over Trevoh Chalobah ten minutes before the end, but couldn't bounce back altogether and avoid a defeat.

The Red Devils put a lot of pressure on Chelsea's defence from the first moment of the game, and that pressure brought them an early advantage, as the visitors' custodian Robert Sanchez was sent off after only five minutes on the pitch!

Altay Bayindir sent a long ball for Benjamin Sesko, who flicked it for Bryan Mbeumo. The Spanish keeper rushed out, but was too late and fouled the Cameroonian, so the ref had no dilemma.

Enzo Maresca was forced to react immediately and sub in Sanchez's understudy, Filip Jorgensen for Estevao. However, the Italian also moved Pedro Neto to the bench and sent in Tosin Adarabioyo.

Nevertheless, Chelsea managed to hold out until the 14th minute, when Bruno Fernandes reacted terrifically in the rivals' box, exploited Patrick Dorgu's assist, and broke the deadlock! Old Trafford exploded with delight!

Already in the 21st minute, Maresca made another sub, suddenly replacing Cole Palmer with Andrey Santos?! Yet, little did it bring to the visitors, who crossed the halfway line for the first time in the 22nd minute. Fifteen minutes later, they conceded again!

It was practically a matter of time before United doubled their lead, and they did it in the 37th minute after another melee in the box after a corner kick, when Casemiro headed the ball behind Jorgensen's back.

The Red Devils had a fantastic lead against a ten-man rival, but then the scorer of their second goal spoiled the party, being sent off after receiving a second yellow in added time!

Amorim's idea for the second half was visible from the sub he made at the break, as he left Sesko in the locker room and sent in a defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The Portuguese clearly had in mind defending the comfortable lead his team had.

Encouraged by the numerical equality, the visitors started the second period much better, controlling the game. Still, United's defence held out perfectly. In the 63rd minute, the Blues scored a goal of hope, but that hope was quickly crushed, as Wesley Fofana had been offside prior to finding the net, so the goal did not stand.

Nevertheless, the Portuguese's "cowardly" approach was punished in the 80th minute, when Trevoh Chalobah found bottom-left corner with a outstanding header after Reece James' ideal cross! At that moment, it felt as it the match had just begun!

Yet, the only notable moment until the end of the match was Bruno's long-distance attempt, which Jorgensen stopped. Chelsea failed to bounce back and suffered a defeat against United for the first time since December 2023.
