And most likely will miss the round of 16 of the Champions League

For Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, the pain in his back became unbearable. Well, although the Spanish press claimed a few days ago that the goalkeeper of Barcelona will not undergo surgery, because he does not want to leave the team at this moment, the complete opposite happened.

As the Catalan Sport and AS write, Ter Stegen decided to go for surgery anyway, in order to solve the problem with his back, which has been bothering him for some time.

Although the surgery has not been done yet, the media are betting on how long the German custodian will be out of action. And the first estimates are that he will not be able to defend for two to three months, which means that he will not be in front of the Barcelona net in the Champions League round of 16 matches (February 13/14 and 20/21).

In addition, Ter Stegen will not be in the Spanish Super Cup, in several league matches, as well as in the quarter-finals of Copa del Rey. This will be the German goalkeeper's second operation since he came to Barcelona, the first time he underwent the procedure in the 2020/21 season when he had to "repair" his knee.

Inaki Peña will take over the role of Barcelona's first goalkeeper.
