The APS Bomet midfielder had joined the Brewers on a two-year deal ahead of the 2024/25 season. However, just as the contract was finalised, the club abruptly terminated it, dealing Yidah a significant blow.

The former Kariobangi Sharks midfielder had trained with Tusker FC for several weeks before finally signing, marking his return to the FKF Premier League after a season with South Africa’s Marumo Gallants.

A source close to the matter revealed that the decision stemmed from what Tusker cited as a cardiovascular issue.

"Sven had signed his contract and was ready to depart for Uganda with the rest of the team for pre-season when he was informed he would not be part of the group," the source said.

"The club told him they would terminate his contract due to a heart problem. They claimed tests had revealed a cardiovascular issue and that they could not risk having him at the club. That is how his contract was ended."

In Yidah’s place, Tusker took a gamble on Ryan Ogam, a largely untested midfielder from the now-defunct Rainbow FC.

Ogam was converted into a striker, went on to become the club’s top scorer with 15 goals, earned a call-up to the national team Harambee Stars, and eventually secured a move to Austria’s Wolfsberger AC.

Yidah subsequently returned to Nairobi City Stars last season, where he experienced relegation. Ahead of the current campaign, he joined FKF Premier League debutants APS Bomet.

A former Kenya U23 international, Yidah has previously represented Kariobangi Sharks, Nairobi City Stars, and Marumo Gallants before his return to Simba wa Nairobi and eventual move to APS Bomet.

He is also a Mozzart Bet Cup winner, having lifted the trophy with Kariobangi Sharks in 2019.
