The team, named by Athletics Kenya (AK) on Thursday, 5 March, features national indoor record holder Mercy Adongo Oketch, youngster Noah Kibet, and experienced distance runner Jacob Krop, alongside Rosemary Longisa and Brian Omari Tinega.
Ejore heads to the championships hoping to improve on her performance from the previous edition, where she displayed resilience to finish fifth in the women’s 1500m final in 4:03.89.
The race was won by Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, who set a championship record of 3:54.86.
In the men’s 800m, Kibet, the 2022 silver medalist, will aim to go one step further when he returns to the global indoor stage.
The youngster featured at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships, where he clocked 1:48.90 to finish fourth in his semi-final heat, narrowly missing a place in the final.
That race was eventually won by American Josh Hoey in 1:44.77, ahead of Belgium’s Eliott Crestan (1:44.81) and Spain’s Elvin Canales (1:45.03).
Kenya will also rely on Krop, who returns to the championships after finishing fifth in the 3000m at the 2022 edition. His experience on the international stage will be key as the country seeks to break its recent indoor medal drought.
Longisa travels to Poland in impressive form following a strong indoor campaign that saw her clock 1:59.71 in the 800m at the Husky Classic.
Meanwhile, Oketch arrives in red-hot form after rewriting the Kenyan indoor 400m record three times this season. Her latest mark of 51.53 seconds, posted in France, further underlined her growing dominance in the one-lap race.
The three-day championships will bring together the world’s top indoor athletes, with Kenya hoping to make a stronger impact after a disappointing outing in the previous edition.
At the 2025 championships, Kenya sent a team of 10 athletes but failed to secure a podium finish. The best result came from Ejore, who finished sixth in the women’s 1500m final.
Other athletes, including Purity Gitonga and Cornelius Kemboi, reached the finals of their respective 3000m events but placed eighth, leaving the country without a medal at the championships.
