Stars Abroad round up: Kenyans feature in Sweden, Switzerland and Georgia

Joseph Okumu and Amos Nondi were the only Kenyans plying their trade abroad to suffer defeats on Thursday.

Kenyans registered mix bag results on Thursday with Joseph Okumu, Magnus Breitenmoser, Amos Nondi and Alywn Tera in action for their respective clubs. 

Joseph Okumu

Kenyan international Joseph Okumu clocked 90 minutes for Elfsborg in the 2-1 loss to table toppers Malmo FF in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

Jo Inge Berget opened the scoring for Malmo FF in the 27th minute with Per Frick restoring parity for Elfsborg in the 50th minute.

Veljko Birmančević sealed three points for Malmo in the 64th minute as they pipped Djurgården to sit at the summit of the log standings.

Nondi & Tera faceoff

Kenyan midfielders Amos Nondi and Alywn Tera faced off with the latter emerging victorious after Saburtalo knocked off Dila Gori in the David Kipiani Cup following a 3-1 scoreline.

Dachi Tsnobiladze, Iuri Tabatadze and Nikoloz Mali were on the scoresheet for Saburtalo with Ousmane Camara scoring a consolation goal for Dila in the 93rd minute.

Tera’s Saburtalo will now head into the semi-finals of the tournament as they aim to reclaim the title they won back in 2019.

Magnus Breitenmoser

Kenyan midfielder Magnus Breitenmoser made an off the bench appearance for Thun in the 1-2 win over Wil in the Swiss Challenge League.

Saleh Chihadeh broke the deadlock for Thun in the 21st minute with Robin Kamber drawing Wil level in the 54th minute.

Omer Dzonlagic bagged the match-winner in the 70th minute with Breitenmoser coming on for Justin Roth
