Hull City sealed their place in the Championship play-off final after defeating Millwall 2-0 on aggregate in a tense semi-final clash

Harambee Stars prospects Eliot Matazo and Sammy Henia-Kamau are edging closer to the dream of playing in the English Premier League after Hull City booked their place in the Championship play-off final on Monday night.

Belgian-born Matazo, who is eligible for Kenya is currently sidelined with a ruptured ACL, could return from injury to find Hull City back among England’s elite should the Tigers complete their promotion mission at Wembley.

Also in line for a potential Premier League breakthrough is highly-rated Kenyan youngster Kamau, who has been impressing with Hull City’s U21 side and is viewed as one for the future at the club.

Hull City sealed their place in the Championship play-off final after defeating Millwall 2-0 on aggregate in a tense semi-final clash, setting up a decisive Wembley showdown on Saturday 23 May against either Southampton or Middlesbrough.

After a goalless first leg at the MKM Stadium, Sergej Jakirović’s men produced a composed away performance at The Den, with substitutes Mohamed Belloumi and Joe Gelhardt scoring in the second half to send the Tigers to Wembley.

The result keeps Hull City’s hopes of returning to the Premier League for the first time since the 2016/17 season alive, exactly a decade after their last successful promotion campaign.

For Matazo, promotion would mark a remarkable boost during his rehabilitation journey after suffering a serious knee injury that cut short his season.

The midfielder remains one of Kenya’s brightest emerging talents and could become another Kenyan player to feature in the Premier League if Hull City secure victory in the final.

Kamau, meanwhile, continues to rise steadily through the ranks at the club, with the young midfielder regarded as one of the academy prospects capable of breaking into the senior team in the near future.

Hull City are now just one match away from a return to England’s top flight and potentially handing Kenya another Premier League connection through Matazo and Kamau.
