Omija, who was once again drafted into the starting eleven, played the full 90 minutes of the home game at the 50-000 seater Stade Olympique de Sousse.

The outing was his first since lining up in last Sunday’s loss to FKF Premier League side Nairobi United in the first-leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round.

In the afternoon kickoff, Islem Chelghoumi gave the visitors the lead inside the first 22 minutes, before Mohamed Bouslama fired in an equalizer at the stroke of halftime.

Mohamed Ali Nafkha’s side could, however ,not squeeze in their third win of the season, as goalkeeper Raed Gazzeh committed a foul inside the box in the 81st minute, handing Mohamed Hedi Hadouchi the opportunity to bury from the spot.

The defeat was Etoile’s third in a row in all competitions, beginning with a 1-0 loss to Esperance Tunis just before the international break on 5 October.

In the table standings, Etoile is just one point above the relegation zone in 12th spot, having amassed just nine points from 10 matches, and with a negative goal difference.

With pressure already ramping from the fanbase in the club’s 100-year anniversary, Omija and co. will look to stem the bleeding on Sunday, 26 October (2000 EAT), when they host Nairobi United in the CAF Confederation Cup return-leg, where they must overturn a 2-0 deficit to advance to the group stages.

In the league, their next fixture is against 11th placed AS Marsa on Wednesday, 29 October.
