Vyner shines as Bristol City down Norwich
In England, Harambee Stars defender Zak Vyner played the full 90 minutes as Bristol City edged Norwich City 1-0 at Carrow Road.
Mark Sykes’ second-half strike earned Bristol City a much-needed win, intensifying pressure on former Robins boss Liam Manning, who now manages Norwich.
The result extended Norwich’s poor home run, having now lost all six home matches in league and cup competitions since Manning’s switch from Ashton Gate earlier this year.
Goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic had kept Norwich level until a cross found substitute Sykes, who coolly slotted home.
Despite late efforts from Jack Stacey, visiting goalkeeper Radek Vitek ensured Bristol claimed their first victory in five matches, lifting them to sixth in the Championship table.
Vyner was solid once again, completing the full match, keeping a clean sheet and nearly scoring late on.
The defender has featured in all 10 league games for Bristol City this season, keeping four clean sheets and averaging 4.3 clearances per game.
Harper features in Walsall Defeat
Elsewhere in the English League One, Vincent Harper featured for 55 minutes as Walsall FC suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Barrow at Poundland Bescot Stadium.
Fresh from international duty with Harambee Stars, where he made his debut against Burundi, Harper was replaced by Jid Okeke midway through the second half.
Elliot Newby opened the scoring for Barrow in the 31st minute, slotting home from close range after a Ben Whitfield cross.
Charlie McCann doubled the visitors’ lead in the 68th minute following a quick counterattack, before Daniel Kanu pulled one back for Walsall in the 74th minute, assisted by Albert Adomah.
Despite the defeat, Walsall remain top of the League One standings with 26 points, two clear of second-placed MK Dons.
Odhiambo on target in Sweden
In Sweden, former Gor Mahia defender Frank Odhiambo had a memorable afternoon after scoring a late equaliser for IF Karlstad in their 1-1 draw with Sollentuna in a Swedish third-tier clash at Enavallen C-Plan Grounds.
Odhiambo came off the bench in the second half and found the back of the net in stoppage time to preserve Karlstad’s unbeaten run and strengthen their promotion push.
The 22-year-old’s goal, his third of the season, came after David Bangesston had given Sollentuna the lead early in the second half.
Oscar Faulds provided the assist for Odhiambo’s dramatic leveller.
Karlstad remains fourth on the table with 48 points, maintaining their push for a top-three finish and potential promotion.
