Ouma assisted the second goal of the game.
Kenyan international Erick "Marcelo" Ouma registered an assist as his Swedish club, AIK, thrashed Varbeg 3-0 in a Swedish top league match played on Monday evening.
Ahead of the match, AIK were seeking to bounce back from the 3-1 defeat inflicted on them by Norrkoping a week ago, and they did so in style, putting three past the visitors.
Cypriot forward Ioannis Pittas opened the scoring in the 25th minute before Ouma set up Rui Modesto for the second goal in the 3rd minute. Pittas then completed the rout in the 59th minute with the third goal from the spot. Ouma was withdrawn at stoppage time.
The win lifts AIK up to 13th in the Swedish top-tier league with 22 points. They remain in the red zone, but the points help ease their fears of finishing at the wrong end of the table.
Since his appointment as head coach at the start of July, former Manchester United defender Henning Berg has done well to stabilize what was a fast-sinking ship. He has managed three wins and three draws in the league. He suffered two defeats during that period.
Next for AIK and Ouma is a match against Hammarby away on Sunday. After that, he will link up with the rest of the national team in Nairobi for preparations for an international friendly match against Qatar that will be played on Thursday, September 7, in Doha, Qatar.
Ouma was among the 24 players summoned for the international assignment. It will then be followed by another friendly match against South Sudan in Nairobi five days later.
