The game is slated for a 3 PM kick off at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday 8 May.
Having witnessed dwindling fans in the stands, Gor Mahia head coach Andreas Spier has issued a rallying call to all K’Ogalo faithful to turn up in droves ahead of the Mashemeji Derby.
Since fans were allowed back into the stadium following a lift in a ban due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Gor Mahia fans are yet to enjoy the huge support they initially possessed.
Spier promised fans quality football in the Mashemeji Derby against their eternal foes AFC Leopards and blamed the reduced number of fans on their match venues.
“We have been playing in Thika which is a bit difficult for our fans but we had a good number in our last match against Kariobangi Sharks but it could be more.
I hope that the spectators will be there because we shall display nice football, may the best team win and I hope it will be a peaceful match,” said Spier.
AFC Leopards on the other hand have experienced a surge in the number of fans who rally behind the team despite the inconsistent results posted.
Spier was however delighted to be involved in what will be his first Mashemeji Derby in charge after replacing Mark Harrison back in February.
“We are always excited when it is derby time, we take it as a football festival, we usually love to be challenged and it is going to be a good match,” added Spier.
