Back in March 2022, Gor Mahia were banished from staging their games in Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium and Kasarani Stadium owing to fan trouble witnessed in their clash against Vihiga Bullets, a match whose fate lies at the SDT to date.
Since then, the club has been shifting base between Moi Stadium in Kisumu and the William Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok for their home clashes.
Earlier, Ocholla had revealed that they made the decision to move the game to the newly-opened ground in Kisumu to also make some valuable income from the gate collections expected from a large turnout.
“As the club top brass we have reached a decision that we will host AFC Leopards at Jomo Kenyatta. The club is currently serving a ban on hosting its matches in Nairobi and since this is the biggest game of the season, we have brought it to Kisumu where the club enjoys fanatical support so that they can also feel part of the team. We also hope to cash in on a huge turnout,” Ocholla was quoted on Nation weeks ago.
