Trailblazing Tanzanian giants deny receiving formal inquiry from Buccaneers.

Tanzanian giants Simba SC have played down reports of Orlando Pirates inquiring about the services of Joash Onyango.

According to Simba SC Communications Officer Haji Manara, the South African giants had inquired about the services of Joash after a string of impressive performances.

Mulamu Nghambi, one of the board of directors at Simba however appeared to be reading a different script to Manara as he denied the claims.

“I don’t know of any official communication from Orlando Pirates. So, I can’t comment on anything because we don’t have any official communication and it’s rumours,”

“Because our team is playing well in the Champions League there’s a lot of rumours all over Africa about our players. There isn’t any concrete official communication from any club,” said Nghambi in an interview with Soccer Laduma.

Onyango has enjoyed a spectacular season with Simba especially in the Champions League where he helped the club to a top of the group finish over African giants Al Ahly.

Manara slapped a Ksh.100 million transfer price tag on Onyango’s head after claiming that Pirates contacted him about the former Gor Mahia defender’s services.

“Let me reveal a secret, yesterday one of the Orlando Pirates managers called me to ask about the price of Onyango and I joked that he was worth one million dollars,"

“He has already gotten to that top bracket, he has regularly been chosen as the best centre back in the Champions League, if he is worth that much how much do you think Miquissone, Manula and Chama will be worth?” said Manara.

Onyango was crowned the March Simba Player of the Month award after a landslide victory over Aishi Manula and Luis Miquissone
