Silibwet Leons head coach Mark Otieno Asa has sent a stern warning to Kibera Black Stars ahead of their National Super League clash this weekend at Silibwet Green Stadium.
Silibwet will be seeking their first maximum points of the season after playing out to a one all draw against Kisumu All Stars in a league opener staged at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.
Otieno, who joined the Bomet based club last week after a long lay off out of the dugout, now believes the team has mastered his philosophy and are out to prove themselves against the Nairobi opponents.
"We had little time to prepare the team for the Kisumu clash and despite that the boys showed high levels of maturity to contest in the match. Right now, the majority have mastered my philosophy and Kibera must be ready to ship in goals," said the former Mwatate United coach.
The youthful expert revealed that the team has been engaging in vigorous training sessions to collect maximum points in front of the home fans and avoid last season's run that saw the Erick Rono managed club go seventeen matches without a home win.
"We have intensified our training sessions to try and grab three points in front of our supportive fan base, the boys are determined to avoid what befall them last season, going for a couple of games without a win was hurting both the playing unit and the fans," he offered.
The gaffer is however, aware of the huge task that awaits him with Silibwet failing to win in three consecutive encounters against Black Stars, though he is optimistic of breaking the jinx over the weekend.
Stars will also be looking to redeem themselves after falling 2-0 to debutants Nairobi United in front of their fans.
"I have seen the statistics are against us but that was under previous managers, this my time and I am confident in my boys that this time round we are turning around the results," he stated.
Meanwhile, Asa rallied fans to take advantage of Silibwet Green Stadium hosting the second tier matches to throng the stadium and give the team the much needed motivation to help win matches.
"I call upon fans to come in large numbers to create a terrific atmosphere. It is what we need to win matches. Furthermore, they are our sponsors for now as the management chats away forward on sponsorship," he concluded.
