K'Ogalo has used Caleb Otieno and Kevin Omondi in his absence this season

Gad Mathews has not featured for Gor Mahia since last season after undergoing a surgery on his knee.

But after close to six weeks of recovery and rehabilitation, the goalkeeper, who kept the most number of clean sheets in the FKF Premier League last season, is raring to bounce back.

"I'm fine," the former Kariobangi Sharks player told Mozzart Sport.

For the past few weeks, Gad has been working out in the gym, but is now ready to resume grass training.

"I am resuming on the grass next week. I began personal training in the gym this week, and I will be joining them (the rest of Gor Mahia players) next week, depending on doctor's advice," he said.

In his absence, K'Ogalo who has played three games - winning two and drawing one - has used two reserve goalkeepers.

Youngster Caleb Otieno, a graduate of Gor Mahia Youth was between the sticks in two games, including the Charity Shield, which they won on penalties against Kakamega Homeboyz FC, and the season opener against Sofapaka, which ended 1-1.

From then on, after some glaring errors, Caleb was relegated to the bench, with new signing Kevin Omondi overseeing the next two wins against Ulinzi Stars (1-0) and Nairobi City Stars (4-1).

"They have done a great job. The competition can only get better which is good for the team," Gad said.

Meanwhile, the record champions with 20 titles, will be up against Kakamega Homeboyz FC in a tough assignment scheduled for Sunday at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega.

In their last league encounter, Homeboyz, coached by former Gor Mahia assistant coach Patrick Odhiambo, humbled K'Ogalo, who were then in a tight title race with Tusker FC, 3-2 at Kasarani Stadium.

Despite losing their first game of the season 1-0 against newbies Murang'a Seal, Homeboyz has since bounced back in an emphatic manner, beating Tusker FC 2-1 last week.

It is against this backdrop that they will be meeting a K'Ogalo side that already look invincible.
