Shumah emerged as the league's top scorer with 17 goals, narrowly edging FC Talanta's Osoro and Tusker FC's Ogam, who finished with 16 and 15 goals respectively.
It was a remarkable late-season surge from the Homeboyz forward, who scored 11 of his goals in the second half of the campaign to power past his rivals and secure the much-sought-after accolade.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport after the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, Shumah paid tribute to the competition offered by his fellow frontrunners.
"Having new faces like Ogam and Osoro leading the race for the top scorer award was really motivating,” he said.
“It felt refreshing, a break from the usual names, and it pushed me to work even harder. Their performance in the first leg gave me that extra drive to keep fighting.”
The 23-year-old’s Golden Boot victory marks a major personal milestone in his third season in the top flight, fulfilling a long-held dream.
"This achievement means everything to me,” he added. “After the first leg, I didn’t think I was even in the race, but I kept believing and working.
To come from behind and win it is just unbelievable. I’m so proud and thankful to my teammates – they played a huge role in this success.”
Shumah, who joined Kakamega Homeboyz from APS Bomet, has enjoyed a steady rise in form and stature.
His exploits this season have sparked speculation over a potential move, but the striker was quick to shut down any transfer rumours.
"I’m still a Kakamega Homeboyz player. I’m committed to this club for the remainder of my contract,” he affirmed. “Until anything official happens, I prefer not to speculate about the future.”
