Shock – Rodri open to leaving, the King is waiting

Manchester City is currently shaken by the fact that one of their key players, Rodri, is hesitant about extending his contract and is even open to joining a new club

Manchester City’s management is far from happy about the current situation.

The future of their star midfielder Rodri remains uncertain. According to Spanish outlet AS, the Spaniard shows no rush to extend his contract, which still runs until 2027.

This uncertainty is surprising, especially since Rodri has often expressed comfort at City. However, the club’s leadership is reportedly growing concerned about potentially losing such a vital player — even though they’ve put forward a lucrative new deal.

Man City is said to be pushing to secure Rodri’s services until 2029, offering him a substantial salary boost. Currently earning around 17 million euros per season, the new contract would nearly match the wages of top earner Erling Haaland, who pockets about 31 million euros annually.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are increasingly eyeing a move for Rodri next summer. The Spanish giants are eager to find a successor to Toni Kroos, who retired last season, and see Rodri as a prime candidate.

Rodri recently returned to action at the Club World Cup but suffered another injury, confirmed by Pep Guardiola. The manager revealed the injury is serious, keeping the midfielder sidelined for the foreseeable future.

“He’s been training and feeling better over the past few days,” Guardiola said, “but we hope he’ll be fully fit by the international break.”

In the meantime, Rodri is likely to see limited minutes. Guardiola emphasized, “We want him back without pain or risk of re-injury, so even brief appearances are fine.”

As all this unfolds, Real Madrid will be watching closely — ready to seize any opportunity.
