The fans of the Three Lions responded to Thomas Tuchel for the “remarks” he made about them

A 5–0 victory in Latvia and World Cup qualification secured — Thomas Tuchel had every reason to smile. The England boss soaked in the moment, applauding the traveling fans and allowing them to return the applause, despite being the subject of their teasing chants throughout the match.

The reaction stemmed from Tuchel’s comments earlier in the week, when he admitted feeling disappointed by the atmosphere during England’s friendly against Wales, saying the crowd had been too quiet. That remark didn’t sit well with the “Three Lions” faithful, who decided to respond in Riga with humor and volume.

In the first half, they serenaded their coach with cheeky chants such as “Are we loud enough for you today?”, “Thomas Tuchel, we sing when we want,” and “Thomas, give us a song.”

Tuchel took it all in stride and even laughed it off afterward. “Yes, I had to take a bit of a beating in the first half today,” he admitted. “Almost every song was about me — but that’s fine. It was funny, very clever. I’ll take it gladly. Great sense of humor.”

He added: “They had every reason to do it after my recent comments. I actually found it quite creative; it made me smile. That’s proper British humor — no one was offended, and I can handle that.”

The German coach wasn’t just full of praise for the supporters (“The support today was fantastic”), but also for his players: “Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. The atmosphere in the dressing room was incredible. It feels special because going to the World Cup was our dream — and we’ve achieved it.”
