In a dramatic and crucial FKF Premier League clash against defending champions Gor Mahia, Shabana FC may have lost narrowly on the pitch, but off it, they scored a financial triumph that made headlines across the country.
Despite a 1-0 defeat in a match marked by crowd unrest and heightened tension, the Kisii-based club shattered its own record for gate collections, registering a staggering Ksh. 5,019,800 in gross ticket sales, more than double the amount they collected just a month prior during their home fixture against Bandari FC.
In a post shared via their official X (formerly Twitter) account, Shabana confirmed the landmark achievement:
“We collected a gross revenue of Kshs 5,019,800. Asante sana to all those who made it to Gusii Stadium for our match against Gor Mahia FC. It was great seeing the stadium painted red and white.”

The figure not only dwarfs their previous record of Ksh.1,817,000 but also eclipses the Ksh. 5 million awarded to the FKF Premier League champions, a powerful statement on the drawing power and passionate support the Glamour Boys command, particularly when hosting marquee fixtures.
Backed by an unwavering community and buoyed by patriotic pride, Shabana has now amassed close to Ksh. 15 million from gate revenues across seven home matches this season, including clashes against notable opponents such as Posta Rangers, Kariobangi Sharks, Tusker FC, Kakamega Homeboyz, KCB, Mathare United, and Bandari.
As the FKF Premier League title race enters its final five-match stretch, Shabana’s latest home fixture served as a testament to their commercial growth.
Yet, amid the celebrations of financial success, the on-field story on Sunday afternoon was less triumphant.
A solitary goal by Gor Mahia’s Sylvester Owino, heading home a precision corner from Bryson Wangai, proved decisive, dealing Shabana their third home defeat of the campaign.
The loss delivered a blow to the hosts' momentum in what has otherwise been a season marked by formidable home performances.
