Some teams extended their impressive forms, some faltered, while for others, they utilised the opportunity to breathe fresh breath into their campaigns.
With plenty of talking points, Mozzart Sport explores some of the seven key takeaways from the games that took place on Saturday, 1 November and Sunday, 2 November.
AFC Leopards turn a corner
AFC Leopards have successfully managed to turn around their fortunes this season after registering their third consecutive league victory of the season.
Leopards began the campaign on a low note, failing to record a win in their first three matches as pressure mounted on head coach Fred Ambani.
However, the wins against KCB FC, Shabana FC and Mathare United over the weekend have put a smile on the club’s supporters and won back their trust in Ambani.
Ingwe are now third on the log with 12 points, two shy of league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz and with a match in hand. Indeed, the roar of the Leopard can now be heard.
Shabana's overreliance on Brian Michira proves costly
Harambee Stars winger Brian Michira is undoubtedly the most influential and important member of the Shabana squad.
Last season, the 31-year-old helped the club finish fifth in the league and scored 12 goals in the process. In a recent interview, head coach Peter Okidi admitted that he has set up his team around the speedy winger.
This was also underscored by the fact that he led the team to win their first two matches, scoring three goals in the process, before limping off in the first half of their match against Tusker, which they drew 1-1.
Since then, the Glamour Boys have not won any of their four matches, tasting defeat three consecutive times before settling for a draw in their last match against Kariobangi Sharks.
Had Michira been available, the results might have been different, and the team cannot wait to have him back.
Posta Rangers running out of gas
Posta Rangers began the season like a house on fire, winning three of their first four matches and collecting 10 points in the process, which took them to the top of the league table.
However, the Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo-coached side have struggled over the past three matches, picking just two points out of a possible nine.
With the club now on a three-match winless streak, they just might have lost their momentum to carry on with their impressive start.
Osborne Monday saves his job
Murang'a Seal head coach Osborne Monday delivered when it mattered most. The former Kenya international had to endure a poor start to his tenure, which saw him assume the head coach role when the club was in relegation places.
Following the poor results, Monday had allegedly been given a two-match ultimatum, with the KCB FC match on Sunday, 2 November, serving as his 'last' match to salvage his job.
With the enormous task ahead, the team managed to hand KCB FC their third consecutive defeat and their fourth of the season.
In turn, Monday fulfilled his club’s demands and bought himself some more time at St. Sebastian Park.
Nairobi United shocked on domestic return
League newbies Nairobi United had a successful qualifier in the CAF Confederation Cup that saw them create history by qualifying for the group stage at the expense of Tunisian giants Etoile Sportive du Sahel (ESS).
With their rich form, the reigning Mozzart Bet Cup champions were expected to dominate Sofapaka in their return to domestic football, but were handed a shocking 3-0 thumping by the 2009 league champions, Sofapaka.
Coach Nicholas Muyoti must now find a way to shake off continental hangovers and find a winning strategy in the league, even as they await continental football.
Managerial changes at Bandari yet to bear fruit
Coastal side Bandari FC made changes to the technical bench after just two matches, relieving coach Ken Odhiambo of his duties and replacing him with Moroccan tactician Mohammed Borji.
Despite the changes, the results have not been what the Dockers expected. They won just the first match under the new manager, a 3-1 win over wounded Murang'a Seal, followed by two goalless draws.
In perspective, the club has only scored in one of its first five league games, and Mohammed must now change the club’s fortunes.
Gor Mahia drop crucial points
Record Premier League champions Gor Mahia had gathered momentum following their four-game winning streak that thrust them to the top three of the log table.
However, their rich vein of form was halted by Ulinzi Stars following a 1-1 stalemate as they squandered a chance to assume leadership of the standings.
With the FKF Premier League title race going down to the wire in recent seasons, a draw against an out-of-form Ulinzi might come back to haunt K'Ogalo.
