AFC Leopards reap millions from clash against Mathare United

The impressive revenue marks a significant jump of over half a million shillings, as Ingwe pocketed Kshs 750,000 more compared to figures from their previous home fixture

AFC Leopards had all reasons to smile on Sunday, 2 November, following their win over Mathare United, which also brought a financial boost.

The club collected Kshs 1,198,000 from the sale of match-day tickets for the FKF Premier League clash at Nyayo Stadium.

In an update shared on their official social media pages shortly after the match, the club confirmed that a total of 3,796 tickets were sold for the encounter.

The former champions sold 296 VIP tickets, with each retailing at Ksh 500.

Further,3,500 terrace tickets were sold, with a single piece going for Kshs 300 each.

"We sold a total of 3,796 tickets,3,500 for terraces and 296 for the VIP section, in our FKF-PL match against Mathare United at Nyayo Stadium. We take this opportunity to thank all our supporters for purchasing tickets, turning up for the match, and cooperating at the gates,” read a statement from the club’s National Executive Committee.

The club managed to gather Kshs 448,000 from their clash against KCB at the Ulinzi Complex.

Still on their match against Mathare, Leopards extended their fine run of form with a 2-0 win, stretching their unbeaten streak to six matches.

Vincent Mahiga broke the deadlock in the 46th minute, pouncing on a rebound from Mathare goalkeeper Brian Ouru after Kelly Madada’s initial effort, to score his maiden goal for the club.

Former Mathare winger James Kinyanjui sealed the win five minutes from time, calmly slotting past Ouru after a fine solo run by Julias Masaba.

The victory marked Leopards’ third successive league win, following identical 2-1 victories over Shabana and KCB.

Under coach Fred Ambani, the 12-time champions have rediscovered their rhythm, climbing to third on the table with 12 points , just two behind league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz, with a game in hand.
