Ugandan schools dominated boy's football
Match day 6 of the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association marked the conclusion to the preliminary stage duels with all Kenya ambassadors in action.
Already knocked out Dagoretti High and Friends School Shanderema battled out for pride against St Mary's Kitende and College George Fox Kagarama respectively.
Football Girls
Record Kenyan Secondary Schools Sports Association football girls champions Wiyeta Girls perfect start to the tournament continued as, the Edgar Manyara coached side thumped Fountain Gate of Tanzania three goals to nil to seal a top-of-the-table finish in Pool B.
Wiyeta,who on Wednesday beat Scared Hearts of Uganda by the same score line, advanced to the last four as winners of group B piping Uganda's football wizards Amus College.
Speaking after the match, Manyara exuded confidence that his young troops were going to dismantle their opponents as they seek for a fourth regional title to bring them level with compatriots Arch Bishop Njenga who are the record East Africa girls gong holders.
"Four wins from four us quite impressive and we now shift our focus to the semis and potentially, a final spot to cushion our national title defeat," Manyara offered.
In Pool A, Kenya representatives Madira Girls and Butere Girls bowed out of the regional showpiece due to a series of poor performance posted by the schools at the group stage.
Under the tutelage of Nick Muleri, the Vihiga county champions played for barren draw against Kawempe Muslims in what was a must win match for the new FKF Kenya Women Premier League entrants to send them packing.
On other the hand, Kenyan gold medalists Butere Girls settled for a point after playing reigning champions St Noa Girls from Uganda to a draw.
Uganda's Muslims have advanced to the next round as league leaders on nine points alongside compatriots St Noa Girls though they boast of a superior goal difference.
Kenya's Madira and Butere settled for third and fourth positions respectively as GS Gatizo and Ziba Secondary School complete the table standings.
Football Boys
Uganda's dominance in boys' football is set to continue after all her participants stormed the semi finals of the East Africa Secondary Schools games.
Solidarity Boys quest for a second regional title suffered a blow as St Henry's Kitovu came from down twice to hand them a 3-2 defeat.
Teen sensation Aldrine Kibet had put the Kenya gold medalists ahead after wagging through the defenders before slotting home from close range.
Solidarity captain Javan Omuse added a second to hand Mayoyo's charges lead heading into the breather.
A tactical change from Kitovu technical bench saw the Uganda giants score two quick goals to send the 2002 FEASSSA football boys champions home.
In other matches played on Thursday, St Mary's Kitende thrashed Dagoretti High School three goals to nil as College George Fox Kagarama (Rwanda) came from a goal down to draw against Kenya bronze medalists Friends School Shanderema.
Kenya on Wednesday dominated the athletics programme at the 20th edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) games.
The country swept seven gold medals out of the possible 10 track and field events held at University of Huye.
Kenyan girls scooped gold in 5000m, 1500m and javelin, while the boys' struck top prize in 10,000m, 1500m, triple jump and long jump.
Kenyan dominance in athletic was proved on Thursday as the country won the overall athletic trophy.
Kenya girls scooped a total of 18 medals - 7 golds, 9 silver and 2 bronze whereas boys collected a total of 23 medals - 11 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronze. The country in total scooped 41 medals with 18 gold, 17 silver and 6 bronze beating closest rivals Uganda who had 38 medals on 9 golds, 13 silver and 16 bronze.
In hockey, Kenya champions Friends School Musingu humbled 3-2 St Anthony's Boys on post match penalty shoot outs to book a final against Uganda's Kakungulu.
