Sancho struggling with game time in Villa

Manchester's loanee posted a number of cryptic posts on his Instagram account

Aston Villa haven’t dropped points in any games across all competitions since their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on November 1. Aston Villa has a run of victories for the first time in the club’s 111-year history. In the all-time list of England’s clubs, they need only three victories to go into the second place, below Manchester City, who has a run of 21 consecutive victories (season 2020/21). And at the beginning of the season, it didn’t look like that at all. Not only did they failed to win in their first six games in all competition (three defeats), but they also had PSG problems (just like Newcastle they year before) and had to sell players and acquire mostly players on loans. Only Evann Guessand from Nice and Marco Bizot from Brest were bought in for money, while Victor Lindelof came as a free agent, while Harvey Elliot and Jadon Sancho came as loan players.

Unfortunately, both players failed to make any impression, even in team which was playing in four competitions and didn’t have starts in the squad. Sancho has yet to start a match for Unai Emery's high-flying side in the Premier League, with his eight substitute appearances adding up to just 127 minutes. Sancho has seen more game time in the Europa League, starting four matches in the Europa League so far this campaign. The winger is still yet to register a goal or assist for Villa and since Unai Emery’s side are in a fantastic form and are only three points behind league leaders Arsenal, his game time will not change any time soon.

Out of frustration or because of some other reasons, he posted some cryptic messages on Instagram. One message read: 'You gotta serve a purpose to be around me in my new season. It’s real personal.' The post also included a message reading 'On a mission', while another read 'Distance. Silence. Peace'. Just like with Harvey Elliot, Unai Emery was asked about Jadon Sancho on his press conferences.

“Jadon is still being young, he has had an amazing career and is now in a moment where he needs help to recover his best performance. I have this challenge with him, he has this challenge with me as well. Of course, he is not playing all the minutes I think he has to. But in the second part of the season, I believe in him. He is really being demanding of himself to try to get his best moment this season with us. He has that challenge with me and himself, and with the club as well. I believe in him and hopefully we can get it" said Villa boss.
