The club have brought in 21 players after FKF had extended their transfer window
Mulembe United tactician Samuel Twago believes the club has more potential to fight for glory this season, citing strategic squad reinforcement in the off-season window.
Mulembe, previously operating as Vihiga United, had to survive on a lean squad last term after world football governing body FIFA had placed a transfer embargo on the club.
The ban was lifted few weeks ago giving the former Football Kenya Federation Premier League side an opportunity to rope in new arsenals to their fold, a move Twago believes has been a blessing to his side.
The former Soy United head coach feels there is more competition in the squad and will make them competitive starting with the weekend clash against noisy neighbors Luanda Villa.
After battering Mully Children Family (MCF FC) 2-0 last weekend, Twago says there is growing competition for the first team slots, noting the advantage in it as compared to the previously season
"I am excited to be signing players at last and it has brought in squad depth something we struggled with last term. We are ready this season and we will show it starting this weekend," he said
He further suggests that the team will be competitive once the squad’s gels and picks up his philosophy not ruling out fighting for promotion at the end of the season.
"We have assembled a very good team that is going to be competitive once we get to understand each other perfectly. We are trying to take each match at a time as we aim to chase for promotion just like other teams in the league. Therefore, no one should rule us out yet, the season is still 'young'," he added.
Mulembe have reinforced their squad by bringing in more than twenty players to their fold.
Some of the talents linking up with the club are custodians Peter Madala from Mwatate United, Joel Makambo from Matili TTI, striker Kendrick Onzere from Leads United and Kepha Ondati from Zoo FC.
Others are Bavon Anzaga, Benson Ngereso, Kevin Mwavali, Stephen Wakanya, Kevin Odira and Kevin Oloo.
Davis Wamalwa, Fransic Nyambeka, Bryson Juma, former Sofapaka winger Collins Wakhungu and Dennis Nandwa have also signed a season long deals with the club.
Completing the club's new acquisitions are Kevin Sagida, Erick Otieno, Godfrey Airo, Dickson Isuza, Moses Wekesa and Emmanuel Musotsi.
