Same old, same old in 'Der Klassiker': Kane scores, Bayern win, title race is almost over

The Bavarians' triumph could have been more convincing than "just" 2-1, while BVB's Jobe Bellingham was a tragic figure of the match

Nothing new in Germany. If anyone expected anything else but Bayern Munich's victory in "Der Klassiker" against Borussia Dortmund, they were very wrong. Even though the final result (2-1) doesn't say so, the Bavarians deserved a much more convincing win over Niko Kovac's crew, which suffered its maiden defeat of the season.

Harry Kane once again proved he was unstoppable, though it's a miracle that only his 22nd-minute opener was the only Bayern's strike that ended in the visitors' net.

After a magnificent first half, the Bavarians were more nervous as the end of the game approached, given that they constantly failed to throw the final punch and knock out the rivals. Yet, with a bit of help from the BVB's ranks, it eventually happened in the 78th minute.

Following one of Bayern's counters and Luis Diaz's cross, Jobe Bellingham was clumsy near his own goal line and instead of sending the ball away, he allowed Michael Olise to sneak up on him and smash the ball into the empty net, getting the home team's job done!

In the final ten minutes, Dortmund managed to reduce the gap over Julian Brandt, but Bayern's defence didn't break.

The Bavarians now have a five-point edge in the Bundesliga in front of the second-placed RB Leipzig, and according to many, the title race in Germany is over. Yes, there are still 27 rounds to play, but the way Vincent Kompany's team plays is a different dimension of football compared to their rivals.
