The Burundian coach faces an uphil task of bridging the eleven-point gap between the club and log leaders KCB

Kenya Police right back Daniel Sakari believes new head coach Etienne Ndayiragije will turn the club's fortunes around.

The law enforcers appointed the Burundian national last week, after firing Anthony Kimani and the entire technical bench.

The decision stemmed from the police's disappointing start to the 2024-25 FKF Premier League season.

Ndayiragije took over the club's reins from Beldin Odemba, who had been in charge of two matches, albeit in an acting capacity.

On Wednesday, the former Azam FC gaffer registered his first win after a resounding 3-1 victory over Nairobi City Stars.

Clinton Kinanga, Marvin Nabwire, and Eric Zakayo's goals were the difference as the men in uniform won after a month-long winless streak of five matches.

"He has a soft-spoken coach who expects every player to do their best in training and on game days. He feels we can catch up with the rest of the league and win the title," Sakari told SportsBoom.com.

The former Tusker defender feels they can end their quest for their first league title under the new manager.

Sakari believes that Ndayiragije's philosophy and professionalism will be critical to their pursuit of their maiden league crown.

"I believe we will win the league title with the new coach. Everyone at Police admires his ideology and the professionalism with which he has carried out his job," said the former Kariobangi Sharks defender.

The Harambee Stars defender adds that they still have time to catch up with the rest and achieve their main goal of the season.

The win over City Stars saw Police climb from the bottom of the barrel of the league rankings to 11th place with a similar number of points.

"There is still time to close in and achieve our season's goal. We would have been concerned if we had played more than half of the season or if the top club had won at least 18 matches," he stated.
